Every teacher knows the “curse” of the full moon. Every teacher knows when there is a full moon just by the behavior of the kids. Every teacher knows the dreaded Halloween week. Every teacher knows the costume parades and parties. This week was the nightmare of every teacher: a full moon and Halloween!! Earlier this week I sat in my classroom and wondered why, with a class usually pretty quiet, it was very loud. And then it hit me.. Oh that’s right, the moon is full. Well that’s just great. It’s going to be a long week. Oh wait, it’s Halloween this week too. Perfect. Grant me strength. Then I was reminded that Halloween was Saturday which means Sunday they would sugar crash AND we gain an extra hour! Who Hoo. So they brought their loud, dressed up, Halloween hyped charisma and I.. I brought the knowledge that their parents couldn’t dump those same loud dressed up Halloween hyped kids on my classroom doorstep the next day. And all was right with the world.
