As the the last days of school finally approached, my class had “water play day”. They came to school prepared to get wet! Our school playground is on a hillside and comes complete with sprinklers. We turned them on and, oh, what fun it was to watch childhood come alive! When was the last time you ran through a sprinkler with joy and purpose and didn’t complain about getting wet? It’s probably been a while. The other teachers and I stood there watching the fun before one teacher and I decided to join in. Well, we did have to cross to the other side of the yard and their was only way to do that – through the sprinklers! She and I laughed and screamed like little girls as the sprinklers hit us in the face and legs and back. It seemed like we would never make it to the other side. When we finally made it, we heard the roar of laughter from the kids who saw us running, dodging and giggling across the yard trying to get to dry land. That moment brought back a lot of summer memories of skipping through the sprinklers in my own backyard. Ahh, the joys of childhood.
Happy summer! Now, get out there and have some good old fashioned fun!
