My Tribe

As yesterday was International Woman’s Day, it is only appropriate that we acknowledge our tribe. Who is your tribe? Your work tribe? Your personal tribe? Who supports your work, your dreams, your goals?

Teachers need a tribe. They need that one or two or three other teachers that they teach along side with or partner with every day.  Your teaching tribe helps you out when you need a bathroom break and they step in to watch your class for two minutes. Your tribe goes to happy hour after a long week or after successful parent/teacher conferences. Who meets you at the “usual’ spot for hike and breakfast on the weekends?  Who brings you chocolate when you have a day or week or month? Your Tribe does!

When you begin your teaching career or start a new teaching job at a new school you must find your tribe.  Your tribe could be your grade level teaching team or the teachers you sit with at lunch time discussing reality shows and eating cupcakes (mini cupcakes of course, because ya know, your tribe keeps you on your dietary plan!).  So, get out there and find your tribe and rule the world!

Happy International Woman’s Day!
