Greetings From The Kitchen Nook

Everyone daydreams about writing a book, but following through and actually doing it is a daunting task. Having been an educator for over 25 years, I have a passion for early literacy and am a strong proponent of the idea of teaching through stories. I have read hundreds of wonderful children’s books over the years and ideas for my own stories swam in my head for years.

Contrary to popular belief, conveying a complete story in less than 25 pages with less than 700 words is not “easy” or “child’s play”. I did not just wake up one day and pen the perfect book. I started this journey in 2015 with different story ideas and characters written in journals, on a typewriter (yes, the old school way) and on my iPad. I attended literary conferences and children’s book fairs. I was rejected by many literary agents. And here we are in 2021…My first children’s book, “Bea Bee Loves Tea” launches 5/20/21 and is the first book in the Bea Bee series.

This little daydream that started a private journey of one is now about to become a public endeavor of many. I write books because I have something to say. And, I write books for every child who loves to read. However, I am writing this bog for people like myself. People like me who sit in the kitchen nook and begin to put pen to paper with an idea and a hope. So, I encourage you to dust off those old “somedays” and open that notebook and just start. Are you ready? Here we go!
